Infrastructure Consulting - Tata Strategic

The investment in the infrastructure sector is projected to rise further with the Government planning a trillion dollar investment over the XIIth planning period. Private sector investment contributes nearly a third of the infrastructure investment currently and this scenario is poised to increase further. The role of the private sector is undergoing a transformation from being a contractor for a government agency to becoming a developer of the infrastructure projects. Besides the large sectors like power and road, investments in sectors like railways, ports and airports are projected to increase at a fast rate over the next decade. The emergence of newer business models like Public-Private-Partnership (PPP), which have been successful in sectors like road transport, is expected to spur similar projects in other sectors as well.

Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies are contributing significantly to the growth. Indian EPC companies in sectors such as Power, Oil & Gas, Metal Extraction and other areas have reached maturity levels both in technological capabilities and experience in executing complex projects for Indian infrastructure and industrial clients.

The Real Estate sector has also witnessed unprecedented growth in recent years on account of demand created by higher disposable income, growth in IT/ITES sector and SEZs.  Government has made substantial reforms in the sector resulting in high FDI inflows, entry of international players, emergence of PE funds and investment by venture capitalists.
