The investment in the infrastructure sector is projected to rise further with the Government planning a trillion dollar investment over the XIIth planning period. Private sector investment contributes nearly a third of the infrastructure investment currently and this scenario is poised to increase further. The role of the private sector is undergoing a transformation from being a contractor for a government agency to becoming a developer of the infrastructure projects. Besides the large sectors like power and road, investments in sectors like railways, ports and airports are projected to increase at a fast rate over the next decade.
