A large family owned business conglomerate having a wide geographical presence across continents engaged Tata Strategic to help reorganize itself from a regional structure to a product based SBU structure to better leverage growth opportunities and synergies.
The study commenced with developing an overview and understanding the inter-linkages between more than 50 companies across manufacturing, trading and services sectors and having a wide geographical presence across Middle East, South East Asia and Europe. Options for SBU structuring were generated and evaluated based on top management growth aspirations, synergies across companies and relevant best practices. The most optimal SBU structure was recommended along with defining its linkages with the Corporate Centre and roles and responsibilities of the top two levels in the proposed structure. An implementation roadmap was defined highlighting key activities, timelines and interim structures.
The recommendations made by Tata Strategic were accepted by the client for a phased implementation of the restructuring plan.
