A leading chemical company which had acquired a European Chemical company realized that the impact of an acquisition can be intense and long-lasting. Aligning an organization to new goals and strategic priorities is a critical aspect of post-acquisition integration. Designing an appropriate organization can help the company to weather any long-term side effects of an acquisition

Tata Strategic Management Group (Tata Strategic) was retained by this client to design an operational structure which would be aligned to its new strategic objectives and create operational synergies. Tata Strategic worked with the client with a two-fold goal – to help the parent company develop the operational structure and facilitate quick integration.

To arrive at the optimal organizational structure, we assessed the strategic growth objectives of the company and benchmarked the organization internally as well as externally. A set of favourable options for the new organization were developed.Once the options were in place the client team was brought in for a discussion to help them understand the options, then assess and choose the most favourable option.This exercise was lead and facilitated by Tata Strategic and helped to bring both the client and our consulting experience together so that the best and most optimal structure could be developed.

The finalized structure helped the company to harness all the operational synergies hence making the acquisition a successful one. The same has been implemented successfully by the client.
